Apparently the most shoplifted item these days isn’t batteries or razors, it is meat:
Meatlifting is a grave problem for food retailers: According to the Food Marketing Institute, meat was the most shoplifted item in America’s grocery stores in 2005. (It barely edged out analgesics and was a few percentage points ahead of razor blades and baby formula.)
I’m sure some op-edist could infer any number of wacky observational dicta from this sort of story:
- Look what the Atkins diets have done to our nation’s morals!
- Red Stater’s steal T-Bones! Blue Stater’s steal Filet Mignon!
- etc…
