No better way to illustrate the lense through which liberal bias police consume their media then by observation.
Professor Steven Bainbridge does not approve of CNN’s New Pope coronation coverage.
As such he cites in aid an ally a fellow traveler.
Who her experience:
It’s pretty amusing to watch Paul Begala, Judy Woodruff and the rest. God, they HATE him, already.
All much more amusing in light of this recent episode:
BEGALA: I’m serious, that annoys me. I don’t think anybody should presume that a liberal is not a good Catholic.
NOVAK: Paul, Paul, Paul is a good Catholic.
BEGALA: The Holy Father is liberal. And in fact, when [CNN contributor] Carlos [Watson] was speaking [earlier in the program], I was in the green room. Underneath, some producer had written, “Many Catholic doctrines are conservative.” Absolutely correct. Many are liberal as well. The Holy Father bitterly opposed President Bush’s war in Iraq. He came to St. Louis — and I was there — and he begged America to give up the death penalty. President Bush strongly supports it, as did President Clinton and others. Many of the Holy Father’s views — my church’s views — are extraordinarily liberal. The Pope talked about savage, unbridled capitalism, not Bob Novak’s kind –
Far be it for me to instruct anyone in their religion. It would behoove Professor Bainbridge and his ilk to be equally circumspect.
Conservatives begin already sold into the myth that they are victims of the Liberal Media Menace. When confronted with serious discussion about the direction of the church they start fomenting conspiracy. But the reactions of Liberal Catholics and concerned non-catholics are not the frigid tip of some anti-papal iceberg. These sorts of bias-seeking Conservatives will see hatred in place of mere disagreement. They ought to accept their position of power.
How aggrieved can they remain now that they have won?
