From the third Presidential Debate:
Got four more years, I’ve got more to do to continue to raise standards, to continue to reward teachers and school districts that are working, to emphasize math and science in the classrooms, to continue to expand Pell Grants to make sure that people have an opportunity to start their career with a college diploma.
From a New York Times article titled Bill Clears Way for Government to Cut Back College Loans:
Nearly 100,000 more students may lose their federal grants entirely, as Congress considers legislation that could place more of the financial burden for college on students and their families.
Plenty of my friends depend on Pell Grants to study here at Berkeley. Without that money, they couldn’t possibly afford their education here. They deserve to be here just as much as I, perhaps moreso.
You lied to them Mr. President. You lied to all of us.
