I’m sure there is some crafty psycho-sociological explanation why Little Shop of Horrors has a 3 star rating, while every critic and reader review seems to love it 1-2 stars more.
Mine would be something along the lines of:
- Those who are willing to waste their time writing good things about a mediocre movie. Will cary through on their inclinations.
- The indifferent only care enough to click a quick rating.
I imagine there is some larger force at work, though. Maybe a disgruntled Netflix employ skews ratings to fit his personal tastes. Maybe God has personally intervened to save the ignorant from annoying songs and visions of a robotic gigantaplant.
Either way, I’m thankful someone has good sense enough to downrate that movie.
