The AP tells me what President Bush has to say about taxes and the Democratic Party:
“Let me tell you what’s going to happen when they raise [taxes],” Bush said. “They’re going to say, ‘Oh, we got to raise it so we can pay down the deficit. Uh-uh. They’re going to raise the taxes and increase the size of the federal government, which would be bad for the United States economy.”
We can see the entirely different tack President Bush has taken. He has exploded the size of government and baddened the economy without having to raise taxes. Even while wholly misapplying the key tax-raising element of the mythical Democratic Party Tax Plan, President Bush has acheived the same result. Bravo, I say.
Of course we cannot even fathom the possibility that President Bush might have mischaracterized the Democratic Party’s position? Sit and be mighty struck with the absurd idea of a Democratic president magicking away an incumbent Republican deficit. Never could happen, no never, not now, not in 1992, never.
