Ron Fournier of the Associated Press reports that Al Gore will endorse Howard Dean.
Certainly this is the restraining hand on Joe Lieberman’s shoulder.
Gore has continued to surprise just about everyone since his not quite defeat in 2000. While Mr. Gore was early and often a member of the Democratic Leadership Council, lately he has been running with the MoveOn.org crowd. His most recent return to prominence came after a major policy speech he gave November 9.
It should come as no surprise that his endorsement goes to the leading vote-getter in the MoveOn.org primary, Howard Dean. The Dean campaign rightly placed immense importance on MoveOn’s support. It seems likely that their efforts have borne this fruit.
Whichever way it came about, this is great news for the Dean campaign.
